چکیده

Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes are one of the best error correcting codes that enable the future generations of wireless devices to achieve higher data rates with excellent quality of service. This paper presents two novel flexible decoder architectures. The first one supports (3, 6) regular codes of rate 1/2 that can be used for different block lengths. The second decoder is more general and supports both regular and irregular LDPC codes with twelve combinations of code lengths −648, 1296, 1944-bits and code rates1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 5/6based on the IEEE 802.11n standard. All codes correspond to a block-structured parity check matrix, in which the sub-blocks are either a shifted identity matrix or a zero matrix. Prototype architectures for both LDPC decoders have been implemented and tested on a Xilinx field programmable gate array.

Memory-efficient Turbo Decoder Architectures for Ldpc Codes

In this paper, we propose a turbo decoding messagepassing (TDMP) algorithm to decode regular and irregular lowdensity parity-check (LDPC) codes. The TDMP algorithm has two main advantages over the commonly employed two-phase messagepassing algorithm. First, it exhibits a faster convergence behavior (up to 50% less iterations), and improvement in coding gain (up to an order of magnitude for mode...

Advances in Detection and Error Correction for Coherent Optical Communications: Regular, Irregular, and Spatially Coupled LDPC Code Designs

Forward error correction (FEC) in optical communications has been first demonstrated in 1988 [1]. Since then, coding technology has evolved significantly. This pertains not only to the codes but also to encoder and decoder architectures. Modern high-speed optical communication systems require high-performing FEC engines that support throughputs of 100 GBit/s or multiples thereof, that have low ...

Fully programmable LDPC decoder hardware architectures

In recent years, the amount of digital data which is stored and transmitted for private and public usage has increased considerably. To allow a save transmission and storage of data despite of error-prone transmission media, error correcting codes are used. A large variety of codes has been developed, and in the past decade low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes which have an excellent error cor...

An Fpga Based Overlapped Quasi Cyclic Ldpc Decoder for Wi-max

In this paper, we present a partially parallel Quasi cyclic Low Density Parity Check decoder architecture for WiMAX IEEE 802.16e standard. Two phase message passing Min-sum decoding algorithm is used to decode the Low Density Parity Check codes. The decoder is designed for code rate 1⁄2 and code length of 576 bits and 2304bits. The decoder is easily configurable to support different code length...
